Gore Panders to Homosexuals
November 19, 1997
Vice President Al Gore, in a bit of political electioneering, applauded
the lesbian television character, "Ellen" in a speech to the Hollywood
Radio and Television Society. He said that "when the character Ellen
came out, millions of Americans were forced to look at sexual
orientation in a more open light," and compared its impact upon society
to shows that forced people to confront their racism. (Washington Times,
10/17/97)
What is, perhaps, even more shocking is the fact that Gore made these
comments after news reports surfaced that lesbian comedian Ellen
DeGeneres, who plays the lead character, threatened to leave the show,
because ABC planned to issue a warning advisory on several episodes. One
episode portrays her kissing a heterosexual female friend as a "joke"
and another shows her heading off to the bedroom to have sex with a
lesbian lover. This is the television character he has held up as a
model citizen. It is clear he doesn't speak for mainstream America.
Several years ago, Gore and his wife Tipper chastised the entertainment
industry for producing sexually explicit lyrics. However, that was
before he was "bought" by the homosexual lobby. The Human Rights
Campaign alone donated $1.1 million during the last election, and
generated private donations upwards of $3 million for the democratic
party. (Washington Times, 10/18/97)
Then came the metamorphosis. At an event for homosexual activists held
at the vice presidential residence, Tipper, catering to the crowd,
introduced Gore as her "partner."
L. Brent Bozell, chairman of the Media Research Center commented, "Even
in the midst of his own fund-raising scandals, he's shameless in his
pursuit of money . . . and he'll say anything to get it. That includes
catering to the militant gay community that is forcing its liberal
political agenda on the American public, regardless of how many children
are exposed to the perversion of it all." (Washington Times, 10/17/97)
Can the nation trust a man who is willing to sell his office to the
highest bidder? America needs leaders of integrity -- men and women who
stand on principle. Let's work to elect politicians who will champion
the family, regardless of party affiliation, not promote its demise.
