Didn't see the movie but could believe she
has excess of Testosterone over Estrogen. But big deal the issue is her
behavior not body habitus. And that is vapid, ineffectual and not too
bright either.

First off, she was playing a role
written originally by Alice Walker. Cher has played a lesbian in a
movie, too, so what? Doesn't mean she IS one. That is what
ACTING means, to act a role.
In "The Color Purple", the implied
lesbianism occurs because the character Ceily has been
physically, emotionally, and sexually abused by her husband, and "Shug" is
the first person to show her any kindness and love...
As for
'skinny mannish legs', you obviously forgot the scene immediately after Miss
Ceily's stepfather's funeral, when Ceily returns to her childhood house
that she's inherited...
Hardly 'skinny mannish legs'.

Obviously.

Whoopie...
You have a strange a perverted sense of what is 'feminine'
if you think Whoopie Goldberg is a man. No, she doesn't wear frills
and ruffles as a general rule...but if you saw her in the ballgowns she wore
when hosting the Academy Awards, only someone with bad cataracts could have
mistaken her for a man.
Hey, my own mother wore baggy dungarees and
loose teeshirts and 'sensible shoes' when such things were
not fashionable. She was a model at one time (including swimsuits),
and was nicknamed "The Blonde Bombshell", but on her own time she was more
interested in feeling comfortable than in looking
'feminine'.
