The one whose story first made the news claims it happened at around 4am on January
1st...we'd just had a
near-blizzard the day before, and the temps at 4am were in the single-digits, so
presumably not many people
were awake and gazing out their windows at that hour. This happened in a residential
neighborhood in one of
the outer buroughs, not in mid-town Manhattan...contrary to the song, the outer
buroughs of New York City DO
sleep....

No, they are middle-class property owners who have respectable jobs. They just
happened to be coming home
late from a night of socializing with friends.
