Race is a false concept. Fuck it. The faster we get rid of it, the better.
My point was, and remains – What matters at a memorial of this type is not the facts, which are neither being denied or hidden, but the symbol. I will repeat myself. Put a copy of the photo in the plaque, for the sake or accuracy. The fact remains that it isn’t important who the actual individuals were at the event, and I suspect they would be the first to agree. It was about heroics and hope in the face of pain adversity.
I really think that if the firemen in reality had not been 3 white guys, but 3 black guys, the people backing this cry for historical accuracy would not be the ones shouting. It seems to me They want historical accuracy as long as it fits with their agenda. I could be wrong....

politial correctness makes me ill......
why not make the statue raceless (is that a word?) and sexless ? insteadof making it a politicals correct statement?
can we throw in a couple of women and a midget marching band too? so everyone can feel included .... where is the first nations person (we used to call the indians or natives but thats wrong now) ? we'd better include them too...... can't have anyone left out. how about an arab or two? oops they got left out... discrimination..... and showing the haterid of them by the other races?

they had better include a big, fat, bearded, long haired, chopped harley riding, cigar smoking, beer swilling .45 carring biker or i'll be left out.....

i'd have ho problem if the statue was a "artpiece" but its taken from a photo. so what is real?
