-Caveat Lector- No foreign powers (per se) -
By Jewish law - by the 1st of the 10 commandments - to worship any but god is idolatry. As soon as Christianity divided god into 3 parts, it broke the 1st commandment. This is one of the "problems" that Islam tried to correct, one of the places it saw people had strayed from the original covenant made with god. (Islam was a fundamentalist movement in many ways, trying to return to a purer form of worship, that it thought both Judaism and Christianity had moved away from) Jesus (and more so Paul) certainly subverted Jewish worship, and it was under the influence of Greek thought and philosophy, if not Greek politics. So while not a foreign power in the sense we mean when we use the phrase, but foreign ideas of worship, and a lessening of Jewish law (e.g. circumcision, rules of kosher eating, etc), are what separated Christianity from Judaism, in order to attract more adherents. on 9/6/02 6:57 AM, Bill Kalivas at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > -Caveat Lector- > > I don't think that's what Jesus did.
