It does suggest the question of whether we should be "less flexible",
and switch to doing our own border drawing all the time.  Apart from
the aethstic gain of not having to read and be pained by an endless
train of "+ bw3D - bw" sorta constructs, doing crazy fringe things
like using X as X was made to be used does leave us exposed to things
like this happening for months on end while the other 99.99% of the
world doesn't know anything's up.
