thank you, gentlemen. I am beginning to get the hang of it.

One thing is killing me. Counters which are supposed to occupy a
specific spot in a stack. For this example lets use hit markers
sitting on top of the damaged unit they apply to. (but this problem
applies to any two counters which need to remain together, one on top
of the other, while in a stack with other counters)

When I move a counter which has an associated hit marker on it into a
hex where a stack of other units is already present, the locations in
the stack the counter and hit marker inherit seems almost random, and
rarely are they still together, even though I moved them into the hex
together in one move. I then have a terrible time getting the hit
marker back on top of the counter it belongs with. When there's more
than one counter with a hit marker in the hex, they invariably get
jumbled and it becomes confusing as to which had which to begin with.

so what I am asking is, am I missing something with respect to
techniques to control a counter's relative position within a stack?

thanks again....
