True yet, halt is limited, requires you to be a lot closer than you
think and works best when the dog is coming at you from behind not head
on. I am only guessing the sex of the dog, much smaller than the other
dog.

1)That halt can't work if it stays in your pocket, 2)You must have been
going pretty slow if you had time to check the sex of the dog

These dogs come out every time, esp the smaller brown one.

Jeff, Is that the one you hit?

Are these the dogs that came after somebody earlier? If so, someone
needs to call the sheriff's office and report.

Subject: [COWs] Day Break

DC and I did the Day Break ride today. Did the New Years Day ride in
reverse, we are so unconventional. I was challenged (donated blood the
afternoon before) but DC was accommodating. Ride rolled along 19 for 20
miles.

Lanterne Rouge discovered the labs will cross the road. We turned on to
Sandy Fork Rd, came to the Church and saw the labs coming out to meet us
from right. With DC and I riding tandem, the smaller of the two labs
gets turned around directly in from of me, I T-bone the dog and down I
go. The dog took off, must have been no worse for the collision. I am
blessed beyond compare, short of a very minor scrape on the saddle there
was no damage to the bike. Had it checked out at Don's to be sure and
all is well. The poor dog must have taken the force out of the crash as
I did not even rip my shorts or jersey. After getting home, closer
inspection revealed my helmet took a shot and was broken in two spots.
I'll be wearing my back up Saturday.

Very blessed indeed. David if I get any of this wrong jump in.
