Hi Alisa, I like to stay in touch and see what you find out, as I also live in California, and “my” Austrian consulate is also in Los Angeles. I don’t think the process would be different, but who knows about the nuances. And I am like you – all I know really is that my father was born and lived in Vienna until after the Anschluss, so I have little to no documents. He moved to Palestine during the war, and I moved from Israel to the USA 20 years ago.
