I'm working on changing a few things in the grid as I'm going over
the code, and can confirm that this is one call that I've already removed
without ill effect.
However, trying to reduce the calls to refresh() are more
problematic, as refresh() sets the internal row/col count, and I'm getting
errors with "invalid column number" if I try to reduce the
refresh() calls. I'm working on locating the source of all these, and adding
the calls to sync the row/col count there instead.
