The point is that for any new development for MacOS X, wxPython 3 is practically mandatory, since Carbon has been deprecated since 10.8. Only wxPython 3 uses Cocoa. So this concerns mostly people who (also) want to develop on/for Macs. Python 3 would be an issue for people who want to use other Python modules that are no longer updated for Python 2. And/or who need Unicode.
