A reflection on today's Scripture:

Questions, questions!

This seems to be a common theme here in St. Luke's Gospel. The
Sadducees didn't even believe in the resurrection of the body, yet
they were asking Jesus to explain for them a troubling issue. They
could not look beyond the letter of the law and into the heart of it.

If we look with eyes of flesh we will see nothing. It may appear to
be real, but is it? Our possessions have earthly value and can be
used for good; but looking through eyes of the Holy Spirit this
material stuff will mean nothing in the heavenly realm. At sometime
in our life, we all might like to sit down and ask Jesus some
questions face to face, just as the Sadducees and many others did.
Well, in faith we still can do that; if we believe in this we are
truly blessed because we believe without seeing or touching.

So we must not be perplexed or feel hopelessness about questions that
we might have. We should just ask our Lord because He is the one,
true, King -- mighty and glorious. But most of all He is humble and
gentle and has a heart of mercy in which we all should try to
imitate.
