A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Inspiration and direction comes to us today by the compelling words
from the readings. We can accomplish anything we set out to do as
long as we follow Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Messiah. Our two
exciting weeks are now behind us. We can return to the humdrum world
we live in, or we can carry forward the Holy Season of the birth of
our Savior and continue the celebration of the Millennium up to the
Epiphany. We can gripe about the weather, too cold -- too hot, the
disappointments in the people around us or we can dwell on the joy of
knowing that the Incarnation allowed us to find and follow Jesus.

What do we do to avoid the temptations that we are exposed to in our
daily lives? Can we avoid sin? Can we take the necessary steps to
avoid the evil that surrounds us? The answer is yes! The reason we
can avoid such pitfalls, is because we are God's children, He loves
us and we love Him. There are so many good people in this world of
ours that we can associate with, can pray with and can speak to about
Jesus Christ! We have found the Messiah. Just as Elizabeth Ann Seton,
the saint we commemorate today, walked through this world and
accomplished great things for others, so we too can do the same by
the power of God!

               Lord God,
Heavenly King Almighty God and Father,
protect us as we make our way,
on our journey to You. Amen!
