Andrea,
It's great to see you here. Andrea is a wonderful person that has helped with
several dane transports. She has a very big heart and is doing a lot of work
with the rescues she has.
I'm sorry to hear about Zeus' experience. I've found with some dogs that when
they become confused or disoriented they just stay put until someone comes to
rescue them. It is possible that the other two took off when Zeus had his
attention on something else, and then feeling unsure with no one to follow,
stayed put until you arrived. I had a dane that got taken in a storm. She got
away from the people that took her and when I found her, 10 days later, (she was
heading home), she didn't seem to recognise me. She ran in the oposit
direction. I called and ran after her through fields until she came to teh
access road along I-70. My friends had been tracking our progress in their pick
up and I jumped in the back with the tailgate down. We were behind her at the
time. We managed to get in front of her and slowed down so that I was face to
face with her trying to reasure her it was ok, it was mommy. She jumped up into
the back of the truck with it still moving! I don't know what happened to her
while these people had her, I don't know how she got away, and I don't know how
long she was on her own before I found her. She was deffinately spooked. Once
home she was nursed back to health and was just fine.
You may never know why, but I'm glad the story has a happy ending!
Joyce
