I didn't say because I don't want to get into a discussion about the reasons why, but as you've asked: Because I use the darcs 1 repo format. I have a lot of repos in that format on a number of machines. On some machines I mostly use darcs 1, but sometimes use a recent darcs 2. I find the non-hashed format much more user-friendly, as I can easily look around inside pristine.
