hey,

an icc is just a wrapper format for a color space transform. the pipeline
in dt is as follows:

input: raw pixels, whatever color space (depends on the camera etc), some
sort of linear rgb

then there goes `input color profile' which knows about a camera rgb -> xyz
matrix to convert random vendor dependent stuff to xyz. from there,
darktable uses Lab D50 until the output color profile module. this will
convert it to whatever, most of the time sRGB (applying the transform
Lab->xyz and xyz->rec709 primaries + sRGB tonecurve).

prophotorgb is not really relevant at any stage here, only if you set it as
output profile maybe.

we don't gamut clip anywhere except at the very end, so even if our working
space was rgb it wouldn't matter whether it was prophoto, rec709 or
anything else (just a linear transform for the primaries). we allow rgb
values > 1 and < 0 during processing, everything is in floating point, so
no information is lost.

not sure what exactly you're after?

cheers,
 jo
