To address a couple of responses. Somebody said this is a bad place to air
one's complaints. Since the devs do occasionally notice what gets posted
here, this is a good place to speak to an issue.

If this "joke" attracts criticism every year, is there the chance it is not
a good idea?

I get the feeling that one must be uncritically in love with every aspect
of darktable or that even a single criticism means, what? That one is
hostile? The enemy? Not worthy? Are we so thin skinned that a single
critique cannot be withstood? I doubt it.

If somebody is really hot and bothered by my bitching about one single
thing, go back through old posts and see how often I complain about
darktable. I am not sure I have ever. I certainly don't make it a habit.

I don't like being characterized as humorless. You don't know me well
enough to go there. Personal jabs are kinda a bad idea in a forum like this.

Darktable is good enough that is is worth the criticism that will make it
even better.

The "joke" tied up my screen and did not go away in a few seconds so it is
not working as people are saying it is intended. I am not privy to the
keyboard shortcuts that pertain to "joke" screens so did not know how to
get rid of the "joke". I tried a bunch of poking around and got nowhere and
finally just killed the program having got nothing done.

The other 354 days a year, darktable is a fantastic program.

I have zero interest in adobe junk or similar. It is one of the first
projects I would finance were it to need money. I recommend it to people
frequently. That will not change.
