I would suggest combining your sharpening technique with various levels
of the equalizer module. If you drag up the histogram in that module, it
will give coarser levels of sharpening, depending on how far left you
start. So while basic sharpening takes care of the fine detail, the
equalizer can obtain more defined-looking images.
