Hi Heike,
I had another play around with the crop option. The crop option
in DT is non-destructive. When the module is open you will see the whole
picture plus your crop selection. Unlike other programs, hitting enter will
not apply the crop. However, just click on any other module and the crop
will be applied. Also the handles will only become visible if you move your
mouse cursor to the edge of the crop selection. The crop tool can seem
strange if you are used to Adobe's crop tool. I hope your problem is this
simple, but that does not explain everything you have described.
