I agree about keeping the original RAW files. I checked out the blog
and the enhance detail feature looks great for the example given. I will
test this out myself as I have LR6 per[etual licence and all Adobe programs
as CC subscription due to my job. I actually choose to use Darktable
because it is a much more creative and innovative program than
Adobe's offerings. I also really like RawTherapee, but the drawn and
parametric masks make Darktable more creative and flexible. I would love to
see Darktable and RawTherapee join forces. Probably would never happen, but
both programs have some incredible features. Rawtherapee has a more
intuitive GUI that would be easy for beginners to understand. I also
love the demosaic options in Rawtherapee which can improve processing of
very noisy images from older sensors. But nothing beats Filmic and masking
from Darktable. Some really talented and dedicated developers on the
Darktable project.

Adobe is laughing all the way to the bank when camera manufacturers like
Canon create new file formats like CR3. Makes perpetual licence Adobe
products near useless forcing people into subscriptions and impedes
FOOS developers.
