I guess you are talking about the blending mode. If you previously opened
this image in darktable, with the preferences set to "display referred"
mode, then this will be recorded in the image history.

If you are not using blending, then this setting won't matter at all -- if
you later decide to use blending for that module, just manually select the
scene-referred blending mode. Or, if you select step 0 in the history stack
and choose "discard history" it will throw away all the previous edits for
that image, and the blending mode should then align to the mode you have
currently selected in the preferences.
