I guess you are talking about the blending mode. If you previously opened this image in darktable, with the preferences set to "display referred" mode, then this will be recorded in the image history.

If you are not using blending, then this setting won't matter at all -- if you later decide to use blending for that module, just manually select the scene-referred blending mode. Or, if you select step 0 in the history stack and choose "discard history" it will throw away all the previous edits for that image, and the blending mode should then align to the mode you have currently selected in the preferences.

    Greetings,

    On darktable 3.6.1.

I am using scene deferred workflow, when opening a new image, color
calibration, filmic etc modules are used when I open a new raw
    image as
    per workflow documentation.

For many modules (e.g. exposure module) , I notice that module color
space defaults are set to RGB display and not RGB (scene). My
understanding is if I change exposure without changing the color
    space,
it will be done in RGB display color space.

Does this mixing of color spaces affect pipeline? Is there any
particular reason why module default color spaes are not getting
    changed
even if preferences say use scene deferred workflow?

    Regards,

    Niranjan

It's not aligning. All these images are new and never imported as stated in original message.
