Yes, there are. :) Have a look in the manual:
http://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch03s04.html.php#d0e1513 In short:
do a right click and use the mouse or just type (even if you don't see a
cursor).

To the devs (and all other creative people): I don't know how, but it
should be more visible that you can right click on a slider. There are
so many people who don't figure that out.

I have to admit, that I don't know which arrow you mean, I can't see
something like that over here (running darktable 1.1.4).
