The sense I see is that darktable is an outstanding application when it comes to photo editing and because it is non-destructive it is the best choice to edit scans. That is the reason why I started to have a closer look at darktable. For DSLR-photos I used Aftershot / Bibble already. IMHO it should support vuescan-DNG if it is not a lot of work. I could load it with a few errors with other raw-editors and at least it had a "red background". This problem looks for me resolveable, but maybe it is a bug with vuescan. Since vuescan is a top-scan-programm for linux users, IMHO dt should support it. > AFAIK vuescan DNG files aren't raw files as we understand them (i.e. > bayer pattern sensor dumps) but rather vuescan's linear output tiff > files with a DNG wrapper around them. AFAIK the raw-file from vuescan is a file, that lets you do modifications with vuescan without scanning again. I could load this file with dt, but not the dng. > Unless there is specific support for these vuescan format files > available I suspect using a simple tiff without DNG wrapper as output > format from vuescan might be more portable. Tiff and Raw from Vuescan work or at least I didn't get any problems after short tests. Darktable accepts 16bit grey tiff, which eg gimp doesn't (it converts to 8bit). You will get it ASAP. -- Αl ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Precog is a next-generation analytics platform capable of advanced analytics on semi-structured data.
