The sense I see is that darktable is an outstanding application when
it comes to photo editing and because it is non-destructive it is the
best choice to edit scans. That is the reason why I started to have a
closer look at darktable. For DSLR-photos I used Aftershot / Bibble
already. IMHO it should support vuescan-DNG if it is not a lot of work.
I could load it with a few errors with other raw-editors and at least it
had a "red background". This problem looks for me resolveable, but
maybe it is a bug with vuescan. Since vuescan is a top-scan-programm
for linux users, IMHO dt should support it.

AFAIK the raw-file from vuescan is a file, that lets you do
modifications with vuescan without scanning again. I could load this
file with dt, but not the dng.

Tiff and Raw from Vuescan work or at least I didn't get any problems
after short tests. Darktable accepts 16bit grey tiff, which eg gimp
doesn't (it converts to 8bit). Great!

I will create small samples, but it will take 1-2 days probably. You
