I use the latest vuescan (Pro), which can be downloaded for free at
http://www.hamrick.com/#download (if you don't pay for it, you get a
watermark, but there are no other limitations) and created a DNG-file.

The DNG-file cannot be imported into Darktable, but the raw-file can.
If it is important, I use a Canoscan 9000F and Xubuntu 12.04 at the
moment. If you want, I can do tests with Opensuse too.

Could you have a look into it, please.
