depends on how much trouble you can afford. please don't use git for paid
jobs or if you're under time pressure. (i do, but usually i can fix stuff
quickly if it's broken)
master is kind of stable and useful for day to day work, but occasionally
things break and in extreme cases dt remains unusable for a certain feature
for a day or two. but we don't mess with your history stacks or knowingly
corrupt your database, that privilege is for branches other than master :)
re:testing, feature branches usually receive some kind of testing before
merging into master, but that's mostly limited to the author and one or two
other people who try to run it once or twice. so there's not much quality
assurance.
