Luis,

I forgot to mention before that I already had some troubles installing
do_mysql in the first place. I read somewhere that the gem install
command needs the --with-mysql-config option and then it worked fine.
Here are the steps you requested, I dunno if that output is of great
help though?

Concerning ruby 1.8.7 .. I noticed that too, and wasn't feeling to
good about it. The thing is, that I remember that when leopard came
out, I heard that the shipped ruby was broken and that a macports
install would be a better option. Now I did that without thinking too
much about it, and that's how I got 1.8.7. I heard people say before
that it's working fine for them though, so I'll try to leave it for
now (it's only my dev box, production hasn't changed anyway).
