Line 12 provide some insight:

LoadError: dlsym(0x1210de0, Init_do_mysql_ext): symbol not found -
/opt/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/do_mysql-0.9.9/lib/do_mysql_ext.bundle

Can you clone the git repository and try building from there?

I just tried on Linux and worked without issues, but again, was
against 1.8.6, not 1.8.7 (since is tricker have multiple ruby versions
installed).

I always have a version of ruby that matches my server environment and
work with that to help me pinpoint issues with my dev box or the
production server.

In any case, Let's see building from source and pinpoint the
Init_do_mysql_ext function, there is something that is generating the
issues.
