Do we?  If we change the table names, are we sure we will catch all the
code that references them?  Are we sure that all the SQL will still
work?  Do we then need to change the migration scripts?  None of this is
impossible, but if we are going to thow these changes in and release in
a week, then we are asking for problems.

It is possible to just skip 2.0 release and head for a 2.1 with a fixed
short term date for feature freeze. Not ideal of course.

IMHO, No. It's important for the project to release 2.0, there are lots of improvements over 1.x, and the 2.1 desired feature list looks to me as if it will take months if not a year to accomplish.

The only question is when to relase 2.0 and what changes should be made at this point.
