Current configuration:
dbmail 1.2.x (I think 1.2.9)
mysql 4.1.0-alpha
Postfix MTA
Running MyISAM tables currently. The users table has several custom
columns. The machine that is running dbmail is on one host, and the
mysql database is on another server. I'd like to accomplish the
following:
1. Upgrade the database to InnoDB
2. Move the pop3 daemon (new/upgraded) to the mysql server
3. Upgrade the smtp daemon and leave it on the current server
4. I have several custom PHP apps that add/remove users, which I'd
like to keep working without too much unplanned downtime. I don't
mind fixing them, but not sure how different the queries are or if
they will be as a result of the upgrade to InnoDB. The main thing
is that I KNOW about what kinds of changes I need to make.
I am not a mysql expert and the documentation for mysql is a little
worrisome to me. In other words, I lack confidence that I can pull
this off on a running system. I'm considering paying someone to
assist with this upgrade, but not certain where to look. Any advice
on either very clear HOW-TOs or direction on who would be good to
hire for this type of work?
