As Marc said, pop3 only has one folder/mailbox, while that's arguably a neat feature, and even one to consider implementing, it's not starndard pop3 behavior.
As for imap, if indeed you have a problem with it not showing new messages in your other folders, try checking your mail client settings. I use evolution and there's an option to "Check for new messages in all folders". You could have a simple difference like client-side sorting in cyrus but server-side sorting in dbmail, and your mail client not looking for new messages in the other folders.
