No, you should check dbmail-message.c,dbmail_message_store()
Take a look at the source for 2.3, and search for
db_mailbox_mtime_update.
But if all you really care about is message insertion, you should stick
to the trigger approach:
Add an 'AFTER INSERT ON dbmail_messages' trigger that updates a datetime
field on dbmail_mailboxes for the mailbox record involved.
