I ran the latest 1968 file thru the format checker and a couple songs were not recognized and should be added to the song list:
05/21/68 - SET1 -unknown song: Good Shepherd -unknown song: My Baby Told Me ( My Baby Left Me ?) -unknown song: Key to the Highway 12/20/68 - SET1 -unknown song: Mountains Of The Moon Tuning -unknown song: Turn On Your Lovelight Tuning **Why are these two above not recognized? I thought that's how you named tuning songs if it matches an existing song name.** 12/24/68 - SET1 -unknown song: Feel It -unknown song: Three O'Clock In The Morning -unknown song: Mojo Worker There were some unknown venues that need to be fixed in the venues list: 01/22/68 - SET1 -unknown venue: Eagles Auditorium 01/23/68 - SET1 -unknown venue: Eagles Auditorium **there should be no apostrophe in "Eagles"** 12/28/68 - SET1 -unknown venue: The Catacombs Strangely enough I am wondering if the venues list used by the format checker is the same as the one accessible on the web site which is located here: http://www.deadlists.com/venue_list.txt I say that because I list the correct name for the shows in Phoenix AZ on 6/22/68 and 3/8/70 which is "Phoenix Travelodge Theater" (not Star Theatre) and this is accepted by the format checker. Yet the online venue_list.txt above lists Star Theatre and does not list Phoenix Travelodge Theater. Can someone check into that? Yep - I know I still don't have all the carriage returns removed. Uli Teute mentioned the possibility that the 3-29-68 and set2 of 3-30-68 Born Cross-Eyed's are all one version and that is a possibility that I haven't checked into. If you agree/dissagree with Uli on that speak up! :-) Uli also pointed out that this one below is probably 8/21/68. If you listen to St Stephen on 8/21/68 carefully, you will hear after on man gathers what another man spills: "a-hem. well, I mean, uh, a-hem". I don't have this partial show to compare it to, but if someone else does and can confirm or not that would be great. DATE ??/??/68 SET1 Cryptical Envelopment [#0:39] > The Other One [5:24] > Cryptical Envelopment [9:37] > Good Morning Little Schoolgirl [14:49] ; Dark Star [#13:33] > St. Stephen [3:34] > The Eleven [12:09] > Death Don't Have No Mercy [8:%07] ; Turn On Your Lovelight [9:48#] 8/22/68: I got a copy of this in on cdr from Ihor and sure enough as other people have mentioned the circulateing cdrs have part of 8/24/68 (Two From The Vault) rearranged followed by an Alligator sequence. I pulled out my old DAT tape of 8/22 and was shocked to find out that it had the same things on it. WTF!!! How is that possible? The DAT tapes of 8/21 and 8/22 came out together as a kind of a set and were in circualation before TFTV was released. I had been convinced that it had to be just mislabeled cassettes and cds that were like that and the old DAT tapes that "everyone" has are the real 8/22/68. Guess not. Very wierd - its even there on Eaton's list. No wonder it starts with #St Stephen > The 11 > Death Don't which followed by Dark Star#. I listened to 8/21, the supposed 8/22, 8/23, and 8/24. The deal is that 8/21, 8/23, and 8/24 are all seperate shows with no duplication. As mentioned "8/22" is mostly rearranged and mislabeled material from 8/24, but the Alligator sequence is definitely unique. So don't toss out your copies of 8/22 yet! Here's how to tell the various Alligators apart: "8/22": "Burn down the Fillmore... ...heat alone" followed shortly by "I told my dog he's got to...". Feedback goes into Bid You Goodnight. 8/23: "Burn down the Fillmore... ...heat alone". There is no "I told my dog he's got to...". Feedback goes comes to a complete finish followed by "Thank you". 8/21: no "heat alone" and no "I told my dog he's got to...". Feedback goes comes to a complete finish followed by "Thank you". There is no sound quality or mix difference on the "8/22/68" compilation between the Alligator sequence and the rest which we know is really 8/24/68. I am wondering about the possibility that the Alligator sequence on "8/22/68" is also from 8/24, but it was just not included on Two From The Vault? Seems possible - especially since "8/22" and 8/23 both contain that "heat alone" lyric. Makes more sence that it was repeated two days in a row. Dave S.
