Foreigner sentenced to death by Indonesian court for selling heroin


An Indonesian court on Wednesday rendered a death sentence on a Senegalese
man who was convicted of possessing and selling 2.4 kg of heroin.

Seck Osmane, 29, was also ordered by the South Jakarta District Court to
pay 100 million rupiah (11,086 US dollars) in fine.

The judge panel said there was no mitigating factor for Osmane,whom judges
said was involved in an international network of narcotic dealers.

More than 60 drug-related criminals of mostly foreigners are already in
death row. Earlier this month, President Megawati Soekarnoputri refused
pardon request of seven convicts in death row, 5 of them are foreigners.
