Thai convict on death row wishes to meet with Thai envoy

Thai national Namsong Sirilak, who is on death row at a women's prison
here, hopes to meet with Thai Ambassador to Indonesia Athehara Seriputra,
her lawyer said on Sunday.

"Namsong made the request after President MegawatiSoekarnoputri refused
her plea for clemency," Hadiningtias said.

"Maybe Namsong wants to talk to the envoy or tell him something," the
lawyer added.

Namsong, who was sentenced to death for possessing 12.9 kilograms of
heroin, received a letter on Thursday informing her that her clemency
appeal had been refused.

She was arrested along with compatriot Saelow Praeseart and Indian Ayodya
Prasad Chaubey in January 1994 at Polonia Airport.

The 3 were sentenced to death on Dec. 14, 1994. Ayodya was executed on
Aug. 5 this year.
