Package: aegis
Version: 4.22-2
Severity: wishlist
Hi,
The aegis package FTBFS when the build is run as root. Some tests fail,
claiming the "user root too privileged".
Example:
CXX="g++" /bin/sh etc/test.sh -shell /bin/sh -run \
test/02/t0231a-walt.sh test/02/t0231a-walt.ES
aegis: Warning: The setlocale() function failed. This results in you
seeing
the short form of the error messages. You may need to check the
settings of your LC_ALL and LANG environment variables. Use the
"locale -a" command to obtain a list of valid locales. If the
list is
very short, you may have a glibc install problem.
aegis: user root too privileged
NO RESULT when testing the 'aedist -rec' functionality (new project
132)
Even if nothing in policy forbids aegis from such behaviour, it would be
a good idea to allow building as root, since this makes it slightly
harder to test the aegis package during automated test builds, for
example.
Thank you,

The aegis package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/470162 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
