You mean you're changing copyright notices in the debian override for
a package? If a package's copyright claims are badly worded or simply
incorrect, You CANNOT overide this. I find this somewhere inbetween
"bad taste" and "illegal".

I, however agree with the case at hand, so as the maintainer of the
upstream sources, I can change things.
