Check > just after boot, and later, when it fails, see if it's different. > Hi I recently had a similar behavior using startx and I think that was caused by an update of policykit and/or consolekit, because like the kernel, when the policykit and consolekit packages are updated, the system needs to be restarted for the updates to take effect.
