Lintian 2.3.0 includes some changes that breaks the emdebian check. To fix it all you need is to change the 'use Tags;' stanza to 'use Lintian::Tags qw(tag);' Moreover, the 2.4 release will include more changes that affect emdebian too. Chances are that it will be released next Saturday. To make it work under 2.4.0, you need to drop the Unpack-Level field in the .desc file (which should be 2, not 1, as you are accessing unpacked/) and add 'unpacked' to Needs-Info. Other major infrastructure changes will follow, but none should affect the emdebian check.
