Thanks - I did raise this on the debian-embedded mailing list earlier.
I thought about filing a bug report (as a reminder for myself or
others who may help with emdebian-tools).

This is just one of the inevitable issues that will need to be fixed
before routine use of emdebian-tools restarts.
