In my mind, the most important question is if Debian is doing things to move
us towards a world that allows us to run fully free systems, including fully
free (as in freedom) hardware and fully free firmware.

Everyone agrees that we currently do not live in that world. So, currently,
using a computer requires some amount of compromise.

Some people appear to be of the opinion that it is impossible to ever get to
that perfect world, so we shouldn’t even try.

My opinion is that we can get there, but that, even in the best case scenario,
it will take a long time. Perhaps longer than my lifespan. However, I would
like Debian to be on the cutting edge of doing what is currently possible to
run a fully free system. If enough people care about this issue, we can
slowly make small improvements each year.
