The baseline for the big-endian ppc64 port is a bit lower[1] than for ppc64el.

I'd also assume that rather few people are running POWER8/9/10 in BE mode, because IBM only supports LE on those (basically, BE is reserved for paying customers on AIX, and LE is for the "hobbyists").

I'm not sure how much effort we need to put into distinguishing older ISAs on BE ppc64, though, it is unlikely packages will build separate binaries for those.
