So, when ghc --show-iface does not change for an .hi, it is guaranteed
that depending libraries will continue to work? Or are there more
pitfalls?

Maybe we can use this somehow to avoid recompilation. Something like
Provide: <pkgname>-<md5sum of --show-iface> and then using that in
Depends:. Just a quick idea...
