I think my C3000 has a CD-drive and yours probably too.
So that's probably the reason why you maybe didn't faced the problem.

This shouldn't happen. You should get to a login prompt.
Did you checked the values in /etc/inittab to have getty lines for tty0 and 
ttyS0 (if you have serial console).

If you press the power button, the kernel will print a message that it's now 
rebooting.
