The transition from the old FTP Masters team to the new DFSG team has caused a
large backlog in NEW. Everyone is in the same boat, waiting for packages that
have been stuck in NEW for a while. However, now that the transition has been
completed, it is hoped that packages will begin to move through NEW quickly
now.

Hi Soren

plessy@coccia:/srv/ftp-master.debian.org/log$ for f in 2025*z; do xzgrep
process-new $f | grep -c ACCEPT; done

plessy@coccia:/srv/ftp-master.debian.org/log$ grep process-new current | grep
-c ACC
85

while there is a reduction in December and January, it is in similar
order as what happened earlier in 2025 before the transition, so
there is no evidence that the transition is responsible for the backlog.

As of today the last package accepted in NEW was on January 17.

At the core of the problem is that Debian is still growing while the
procedures and manpower for NEW processing did not for a decade or so.
I also hope that the DFSG team will solve that!

Have a nice Sunday,

Charles
