Thank you for your message, well you have shown that a newer kernel does not solve the problem. Could you be so kind to try another kernel, this time the kernel is made from kernel-source-2.0.36-3 with the supplied .config.save but without 7000FASST SCSI support.
It was done by theese steps: # cp .config.save .config # make menuconfig # remove 7000FASST SCSI support # make dep; make clean; make bzImage # cp /xx/debian/dists/slink/main/disks-i386/2.1.9-1999-03-03/resc1440.bin . # mount -o loop resc1440.bin /mnt # cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /mnt/linux # /mnt/rdev.sh + set -e + readonly Arch=i386 + Arch=i386 + '[' i386 '!=' m68k ']' + rdev -R /mnt/linux 1 + rdev -r /mnt/linux 0 + rdev -v /mnt/linux -1 + rdev /mnt/linux /dev/ram0 # umount /mnt # mv resc1440.bin resc1440.bin-without-wd7000 I will make it available as ftp://kalle.csb.ki.se/pub/resc1440.bin-without-wd7000 in a few minutes. Use it together with the standard debian/dists/slink/main/disks-i386/2.1.9-1999-03-03/drv1440.bin and please report back to debian-testing any success or failure.
