You have to configure the tv out (s-video) as second display output, then configure your desktop to use two displays, where your 1st display is the computer monitor and the second the tv. It can be done on user land with xrandr, but may be the tv extention has to be enabled in the xorg.conf. I've never tried s-video myself but you can have a look on my xrandr output below and notice the TV and TMDS output lines. With xrandr you can configure it very easy: man xranrd. I'm using lenny with kde 3.5.10 with intel video on a dell latitude and a combination of xorg.conf and xrandr script to get 2 displays working. ATI and NVidea, which I've been using occasionally too, are easier to configure. On windows either the driver or an additional app usually provide a configuration interface for the task and the display manager can control the output. (Attention: If you are using intel graphics chip most probably you have to disable drm/3d) regards ----- xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2680 x 1050, maximum 2800 x 1050 VGA connected 1280x1024+1400+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 376mm x 301mm 1280x1024 60.0*+ 59.9 60.0* 1600x1024 60.0 1400x1050 60.0 1440x900 60.2 1280x960 60.0 59.9 1280x800 60.0 1152x864 75.0 74.8 1280x768 60.0 1152x768 54.8 1024x768 70.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 75.0 72.8 72.8 75.0 66.7 60.0 59.9 720x400 70.1 LVDS connected 1400x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x 228mm 1400x1050 60.0*+ 70.0 60.0 60.0 58.9 1280x1024 71.0 60.0 60.0 58.9 1280x960 60.0 60.0 58.9 1366x768 72.0 60.0 1360x768 70.8 58.9 1280x800 72.0 70.9 60.0 58.9 1152x864 72.0 71.0 60.0 58.9 1280x768 72.0 70.8 60.0 58.9 1024x768 72.0 70.1 70.7 60.0 60.0 58.8 1280x600 70.7 60.0 58.9 1024x600 70.7 60.0 58.7 800x600 72.0 70.9 60.3 60.0 58.7 768x576 71.0 60.0 58.6 640x480 72.0 70.4 59.9 TMDS-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) TV disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
