There's some confusion over the method used to order devices in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base as the Alsa wiki says this method is depreciated and to use slot instead options slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-hda-intel,snd-ice1712,cx88_alsa, This gets ignored, which it shouldn't now I'm running close to the latest on alsa-tools. I would be interested if you are pulling the latest from cvs if the slot method works. Would I be correct in thinking, very dangerous, that if I only list alias snd-card-0 snd-ice1712 options snd-ice1712 index=0 that that card would always be hw:0.0 and the other devices would be in random order ?
