If 'Aptitude::Keep-Suggests "false";' doesn't change the behavior it must be the default - unless it's some other aptitude variable that controls this. I got this variable from a file that I downloaded in the past from the net. I'll have to google to find it again but I think that it must be part of the aptitude docs. I can't find an appropriate apt variable in "/usr/share/doc/apt/examples/configure-index.gz" so don't know what else to suggest.
