Almost[?] all Chromebooks have a developer switch. Flip the switch and the BIOS can be overwritten, usually with a simple one that is mostly suitable for loading Linux. Flipping the switch also erases all information on the Chromebook, which isn't usually much of a problem. Chromebooks also have limited lifetimes of support for ChromeOS, so having the ability to move over to Debian is very useful. -dsr-
